Viper Solfa – Carving An Icon Album Review
Now here is an interesting release for the more extreme crowd on Rock That Metal! Trail Of Tears singer Ronny Thorsen came up with the idea for Viper Solfa and he is joined by more Norwegian metal royalty.Morfeus (Mayhem, Limbonic Art, Dimension F3H), who handled guitar, keyboard, orchestration and is the main composer, Endre Moe (Dimension F3H, Cutthroat, Trail Of Tears) on bass and Bjørn Dugstad Rønnow (Sphere) on drums. But wait, there’s more! Miriam „Sphinx“ Renvåg (Ram-Zet) lends her voice to Viper Solfa – a move that worked out very well.
The result is “Carving An Icon”, an astonishing blend of musical voices – and by voices we mean the whole band. You could label it “Dark Metal”, but we like the band’s own term “Poison Music” better. This mix of Ronny’s grunts and growls is balanced out by the beautiful, poisonous voice of Sphinx.
Here is a preview of what you can expect:
VIPER SOLFA – Deranged Pre-Listening
Some of our favorite tracks are:
The opener “Deranged“, a track which really represents the whole album well…aggressive, but beautiful dark metal.
“The Toxic Thousands“, filled with grunts, grinding guitars and the right amount of Sphinx to make this work for ANY fan of metal.
